It has been four crazy days here in the House ‘o Wombat.
We moved Kevin’s office downstairs, and I took possession of the entire finished room over the garage, which is enormous and NOW IT’S ALL MINE.
(I have been coveting this space for YEARS.)
Brandon the Border Collie, who is supposed to be the real beneficiary of all this, is not sure WHAT to think. His person is downstairs! And not going back upstairs! But people live upstairs during the day! But his person is downstairs!
He is dealing with this confusion by sulking at the top of the stairs. Today he moved to sulking at the bottom of the stairs, which I think counts as the first step to acceptance.
While we were running around frantically moving bookcases, the very nice people at the JSquared Concept were running around frantically getting my new website up and running. (If you’re reading this on redwombatstudio.com then you’ve probably noticed!) It is shiny and has better shopping carts and all the useless links and no-longer-available merch went away. Most importantly, it is optimized for mobile devices and looks far better on them. (There will be some tweaking in the next few weeks–a couple of the headers are placeholders until I can get better art up, but I’m in mid-Dragonbreath, so we’re making do.)
On top of all that, we’re trying to upgrade the server, which has been running very slow because A) it’s old and B) somebody out there keeps trying to crash it and turn it into a zombie server or something. *shakes tiny fist*
And also the latest Dragonbreath art, all 160 illustrations, are due today. And I should be working on that, not blogging.
So…err…pardon our current dust!

I don’t know what you paid for the storage thingies, but you definitely overpaid for the door. I’ve had a number of unfinished-door desktops through the years (including my current L-shaped desk, made of two doors, two short file-cabinet-storage-thingies and a home-fashioned middle support—and bookshelves – gotta have bookshelves), and I never paid more than $2 for a door. Except the storm door for the house, but that’s another story.
P.S. I’m am more pleased than is reasonable that my computer’s spell-checker accepts “thingies” as a real word.
Hee! Thingies forever!
Well, it’s what the 36 x 80 doors cost at the Lowes down the road…I could probably have sourced a cheaper one, but time has its own value. (And it was Black Friday. God help us all.)
Next time I need a door, I’ll keep an eye out…
Hey, responsive design 😀 I love a site that does it right.
The redesign is lovely, but it looks like the RSS for the blog is gone entirely. Will it return? (oh please oh please)
Oh dear! Yes, I will see about getting that back pronto!
It is now fixed! 🙂 (Click on the icon in the footer or on the sidebar)
Works perfectly, thanks!
A nice clean website is definitely the way to go – love it!
FYI the links from LJ to previous posts seem to not work correctly, and the LJ version of this page had no link in it. If this is something on the “to do” list we can live with it, so this just a heads up in case you weren’t aware of the problem…
Yeah, that’s down for the moment–things got wiggled around so the past links may no longer work. I am not sure how much we can automate a fix on and how much may require manual tweaking!
The site and the office look sleek. And the room is all your! Congratz!
Also, I think you’re the only person who can say “but I’m in mid-Dragonbreath, so we’re making do” and make it work.
Looking good on IE8 on a government computer, although a few icons are blank. I was getting worried about how long the website took to come up before the revamp, came right up today. Don’t see the garden blog, will you be keeping it separate?
The garden blog is gonna be back, and it’s separate so that poor non-gardeners don’t get whomped. *grin* It’s being designed as we speak!
Are there truly such things as non-gardeners? Heretics!
Love that the website is now mobile-friendly!
Um, did you know that the sub-category “Mature Content” has gone away? This was a somewhat embarrassing discovery as I excitedly showed off the lovely new website of my favorite art to a coworker and I dove into the “people and characters” page and there were nude characters [beautiful nude characters! don’t get me wrong!] mixed in with the other characters. Oops! 😉
(and yes, there are such things as non-gardeners. My office is where potted plants come to die when their owners have abandoned them).
Yes! The adult category is now divided up. The straightforward nudes are in “characters” because Art, Damnit!
The more…silly?…adult art that you may recall is now behind a password wall (check the FAQ for details!) to keep it out of small child hands.
My parents (and to some extent I) have a border collie mix and if you want to move anything in the house, add anything or otherwise make changes we have to “run it through Rudy” first. Even then he still pouts for days. Christmas tree goes up, he sulks and huffs and puffs and trills. Christmas tree goes down, he sulks and huffs and puffs and trills. Tidy up the living room and move the table one foot further away from the couch, Rudy throws a fit. Get tired of Rudy throwing a fit and move it back, he throws a fit about that as well. It’s an accepted part of border collie ownership. We love the silly old man, though.
Unrelated: Love the new site design! It looks so crisp and clean!
I like the new website a lot! Nice layout, easy to find important things – I especially like the “sort by newness” option.
One tiny request: the scrolling is weird (on a PC). It’s pretending to be like an iPhone – but as I’m viewing it on a PC, it’s feels odd and distracting..
Other than that, it’s all good. Now, I’m off to browse some art and sort out presents for next Christmas ( because I’m international).
