There’s a skin of ice on the birdbath this morning, a red-bellied woodpecker on the suet feeder, hooded mergansers on the pond, and I am off to Wilmington to help a friend move. I have been doing this all weekend–I’m glad to do it, I owe the cosmos moving karma in a big way, and it’s a relief to be able to pay some of it off, to say nothing of that fact that she’s a buddy–and today’s jaunt should finish it up. Still, it’s a two-hour-plus drive each way, and my iPod car-player got stolen when I shipped the car, so it’s me and my faithful NPR for four and a half hours.

Once more into the breach…!
