Neverwinter Nights 2, like many other games, has its flaws.

However, unlike most other games, it has achieved what only two games in recent memory have done for me–Jade Empire and Bard’s Tale. I am playing almost entirely to see what the heck my NPCs say next. I just giggled through my entire trial for mass murder.

This just confirms what the editor at Harcourt told me–plot, shmot, plot can be fixed, the important thing is the writing. While gameplay is an added twist with games, I still think there’s a lot to be said–good writing in a game will sustain me a loooong way. (As Bard’s Tale proved, where the interface sucked assdonkeys.)
