Another update on the status of the real Digger–an orphaned wombat from Australia who’s rehab people very kindly provided me with lots of useful wombat info, and have been keeping me posted about my character’s namesake. Despite all the odds stacked against many rehabbed wild animals, Digger’s done well. Her broken leg healed nicely, and […]

Yesterday I had planned to noodle around, do some sketching, fool with some ideas, following the inspirational glut of Comic-Con. I slept. Today I really, really had planned to do some sketching. I’m going to sleep. I knew I was running a bad sleep debt after the con, but this is ridiculous. James is calling […]
So while I was in San Diego, every morning, the incomparable Reece got up at 6 am and took me birding. (Except for the last day, when I had to sleep until nine or drop dead.) Dude. San Diego birds. Daaaaamn. To give you an idea of how many birds I spotted, my lifelist increased […]
Whew. Finally, back from the Con. To get the important bit out of the way–no, I didn’t win the Eisner. I gotta say, I was surprised at how much that didn’t upset me, though. I had been saying that I didn’t expect to win, and it was a relief to find out I’d been telling […]
Well, I am mostly packed, and mostly ready, and trying really really hard not to think about the Eisners, so that I won’t be crushed when I don’t win one. *grin* Today I packed, I wibbled, I picked up books and snacks for the plane, I noodled around on a story, I uploaded Diggers for […]
I have been thinking lately about fairy tales.
Well, holy mackerel! The Web Cartoonist Choice Awards have been announced, and Digger got “Outstanding Black and White Art” again this year, AND “Outstanding Anthromorphic!” Dude! Thank you, everybody who voted–you’re the best! They’re running a little behind on the website listings, but I’ll post links once they’re up. And, uh…dude! Cool!
Spent the day upgrading the machine and reinstalling Windows. No, that’s a lie. James spent the day upgrading my machine and reinstalling Windows. I spent the day reading, and shopping for garden hoses, following an unfortunate incident earlier in the week where James left the water turned on overnight and the next morning the hose […]
I was actually pretty pleased with how this painting came out. The blues choked up a little, but not too badly–mostly by being TOO blue. There’s a hint more purple and green in some areas than actually comes out, but overall, it did a lot better than I was expecting. Possibly the new monitor’s helping, […]
James came to me yesterday and uttered a phrase I never expected to hear from him–namely, “Were you grilling last night?” Now, as my readers may well know, the odds of my spontaneously grilling anything are about like the odds of my spontaneously combusting. Probably less, actually, spontaneous combustion doesn’t seem to require a skill […]
