…And seven hours later, I have finished the latest Harry Potter book.
Hmm.
Hmm, hmm, hmm.
Hmmmmmmm.
Various others have already mentioned how hostile many of the characters seemed to be in this one. And I must agree with that. On t’other hand, since the protagonist is now a teenager, I suppose irrational angst is only to be expected.I usually read these books with a vague desire to smack Harry upside the head, which was intensified, which meant that the final…mmm…resolution left me feeling vaguely vindicated. Told you so. And that’s probably all I can say without scattering spoilers behind me like ah…I tried to come up with a good metaphor involving racecars, but I got nothin’.
Also, my desire to stand up and yell “Oh, for god’s sake, quit mewling and give Snape a BREAK already!” was quite strong by the end. And I can see the final resolution coming a mile off, with the blinding obviousness of oncoming headlights. (Of course, I could be wrong. Most roadkill is.)
I dunno how well this will be recieved by the public. It was a fairly good read–I’ve read much worse, believe me, and it had some excellent moments–but…hmmm.
Hmmm, hmmm, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
