Battle Hamster Raid

Ahem. This painting is arguably the most ambitious watercolor I've done in years, and it about killed me. I used textured clayboard, which takes color really really well, and layers color really really well, but does not lose color particularly well, so I wound up having to repaint the sky in acrylic after several fruitless hours of banging my head against it. The whole thing sat, about two-thirds done, for nearly a month until I finally threw myself at it again, but I'm pretty glad I did, although I'm still not sure how I feel about the textured clayboard for pieces this large--I think I may stick to illo board in the future unless it really wants a gradient. The clayboard does gradients really well. I dunno.
